Pool builders: completing the process....
One of the underlying worries in all phases of home construction is: "Is my contractor reliable? Will they finish the job?". These are great questions and we encourage them from our clients. Here are some ways to check on the validity of your pool contractor:
1. Customer reviews. Ask to talk to recent customers, with complete finished pools. You may get to see some of the builder's handywork while you are at it.... Most builders will not have a problem with this. If your contractor balks at this, get suspicious. We find this is the most reliable source for info about your pool contractor.
2. Make sure your contractor and/or builder has a design BEFORE you start and that you are happy with all of it. Sketchy builders frequently do not have the staff, manpower or knowledge to create a solid design. Make sure you get to walk through it on your own, as well as with the builder! Ask questions: how will the builder handle unexpected site issues (during the dig, during plumbing, weather, etc.)?
3. Get to know the WHOLE design and build process. It starts with your inspiration, then your lot and your budget, then a design, permits from the city, marking the lot, clearing the lot and digging the hole, etc. You should know what comes next and what to expect in the destruction and construction on your property!!
4. Check with your local Chamber of Commerce and see if your pool company is a member, have a conversation with your company and look into any complaints about your company the chambermay have recieved. (Ditto for the BBB. Many comapanies are NOT members but this is the place for complaints!)
Here are some images of two recently finished pools of ours. Nothing feels as good as handing over the keys on a final project....
